Brunel EPDS is owned by Brunel NV and forms part of the Brunel Energy division. Its inception was brought about due to significant changes in the Australian Immigration Laws and how they apply to recruitment firms.
The primary aim of Brunel EPDS is to manage all contractors who are sourced overseas and are deployed to Australia for their numerous clients there.
Stringent controls and measures were put in place by the Department of Immigration & Department of Workplace Relations to ensure compliance with the new legislations and Brunel EPDS successfully met all the criteria laid out and were granted the necessary Agreements to operate.
Part of the Agreement is that 2% of the payroll for EPDS has to be put towards the training of Australian workers and Brunel after consultation with Australian Government bodies and APPEA (Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association Ltd) created an innovative industry scholarship and trainee scheme that will be funded by Brunel and managed by APPEA through their skills and safety development programs.
Through this initiative Brunel is providing a valuable community service while ensuring present and future industry needs will be met.
Presently there are only two operating LNG facilities in Australia. However there are over 11 new Projects in the pipeline and there will evidently be a shortage of engineering expertise required for this industry sector. Unfortunately engineering experience gained in mining or manufacturing is not readily transferable to the petroleum or LNG industries thus further limiting our ability to source within Australia for key critical roles.
Through the creation of EPDS, Brunel is well placed to source the necessary qualified personnel through its global office network and ensure our clients have ready access to the skills required on these projects whilst also ensuring that the future needs of the industry can be met through its funded training and scholarship programs.
